M1.7 Solar Flare & EARTH DIRECTED CME - Oct 13, 2013

M1.7 Solar Flare & EARTH DIRECTED CME - Oct 13, 2013
Oct 13, 2013 | SolarWatcher

An Earth-Facing M1.7 Solar Flare was registered from Active Region 11865 at 0:43 UTC this morning. A coronal mass ejection (CME) will follow but not yet visible at the time of making this video. The location of the active region with respect to the Earth indicates a possible strong Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) to be Earth Directed. The latest WSA-Enlil Solar Wind Prediction animation model indicates a faint CME to impact the Earth October 15th.

*Update*

CME following the M1.7 Solar Flare looks to be very weak and aimed well south of the ecliptic and should not cause too much geomagnetic activity Oct 16.
