The subject of this video series is the ancient experience of towering celestial forms that are no longer present. From a single snapshot of the configuration, we can work backwards to the first appearance of these bodies out of an undifferentiated cloud or sea of dusty plasma. We can then follow the configuration’s evolution through phases that range from quasi-stability to earth shaking catastrophe.

Is it possible that the foundational assumptions of the theoretical sciences all express a common misunderstanding? From cosmology, the "queen of the sciences," a core dogma of the 20th century filtered down through every discipline, constraining our ideas about galaxy and star formation and ultimately (from the same underlying assumptions) all of the space sciences, infecting our views of earth history and even our sense of what it means to be human. The core dogma was the idea that gravity alone, seen through the lens of general relativity, rules the cosmos. Dispelling this most common misconception has become the essential requirement for scientific progress, since all of the new evidence makes clear that we live in an Electric Universe.

David Talbott presented this talk at the annual meeting of the Natural Philosophy Alliance, University of Maryland, July 10-13, 2013. Part Two of the talk will be given at the upcoming The Thunderbolts Project(TM) conference (Electric Universe 2014: All About Evidence) March 20-24, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This added segment addresses the strongest critical comment we've received on the documentary: we failed to mention the infrared readings of "water" in the Deep Impact ejecta. As usually happens on matters of good criticism, it proved to be invaluable, leading directly to a new emphasis on explosive electrochemistry of water production from silicates.

The recent explosion of a large meteor over Russia caused hundreds of injuries and considerable damage to local buildings—the most destructive such event in more than 100 years. The explosion has also raised new questions pointing directly to the behavior of large meteors in the Electric Universe.

The experiment demonstrates some interesting optical effects of scratches on a transparent surface such as a windshield. A good reason to avoid shouting more exotic speculations as fact, something that has already occurred in Internet comments on the video segment. All fact-based interpretations of the clip, however, will be welcome.
