Surge in babies born without brains in Washington State
![]() |

| Natural News | Mar 5, 2014 | J.D. Heyes |
There is something seriously wrong in the fertile Yakima Valley region of Washington. A surging number of babies are being born with major birth defects, and the reasons why are eluding state health officials.
As reported by CNN, a nurse in the area, Sara Barron, was the first to report on a particularly horrifying condition: anencephaly -- a condition in which babies are born without much of their brain and skull.
"I was just stunned," she told the network in an interview. "Three in a couple-of-month period of time... that's unheard of, and they have such tragic, terrible outcomes."
Her shocking finding and report eventually prompted an investigation by the state health department. Investigators found some disturbing results.
Over a three-year period, there were 23 cases concentrated in three southern Washington counties -- Yakima, Benton and Franklin. That's a rate (8.4 per 10,000 live births) that is four times the national average (2.1 per 10,000 live births), CNN reported.
What could be causing such a phenomenon? Is it just one of those weird coincidences, or is something more sinister at play?
Mandy Stahre, with the Washington State Department of Health, conducted the investigation into the high rates of anencephaly. She says she and other investigators are stumped.
"We have not found an answer, and that's a very frustrating part, because this is such a devastating diagnosis for a woman to have," she told CNN.
Barron, however, says she wonders if state health authorities did not find anything because they didn't look hard enough at all possible causes.
'We have to weigh how invasive we want to be'
For one thing, she said, the health department has not spoken to any of the parents of the babies who had birth defects. So they don't know what the parents may have eaten, or what environmental conditions they have been exposed to, or what kind of chemicals or substances they all might have come in contact with -- like, perhaps, the pesticides that are routinely sprayed in the heavily agricultural region in which they live.
Andrea Jackman, whose daughter Olivia was born with spina bifida, another type of neural tube defect, said she wasn't asked anything by state investigators.
"Nobody's asked me anything," she told the network.
So, exactly how did the state conduct its investigation? Stahre said investigators examined data in each parent's medical record -- what sort of prescription drugs they were taking and preexisting medical conditions.
"The study examined medical records from January 2010 through January 2013 and looked at possible risk factors including family history, pre-pregnancy weight, health risk behaviors such as supplemental folic acid and medication use, and whether the woman's residence received drinking water from a public or private source. No significant differences were found when comparing cases of anencephaly with healthy births in the three county area," said a health department press release.
"But medical records don't have details about diet or pesticide exposure," CNN's Elizabeth Cohen reported, "two key considerations for this type of birth defect."
Indeed, the health department -- in its press release -- even admitted: "Medical record reviews might not have captured all information, preventing a cause from being identified."
So why not talk to the mothers?
"Well, we have to weigh that," said Stahre. "This is a devastating diagnosis, and we know that for a lot of these women, they had to make some hard choices. We do have to weigh about how invasive we want to be with these types of reviews."
Engineered end of humanity?
At least one mother -- Jackman -- said she would have "been fine" with being questioned. She wants answers so that other mothers don't have to go through the same thing.
On the surface, this looks like yet another example of poisoning that Natural News editor and founder Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, wrote about recently when he said humanity doesn't stand a chance of surviving this onslaught of corporate-sponsored genocide:
After having now analyzed over 1,000 foods, superfoods, vitamins, junk foods and popular beverages for heavy metals and other substances at the Natural News Forensic Food Labs, I have arrived at a conclusion so alarming and urgent that it can only be stated bluntly.
Based on what I am seeing via atomic spectroscopy analysis of all the dietary substances people are consuming on a daily basis, I must now announce that the battle for humanity is nearly lost. The food supply appears to be intentionally designed to end human life rather than nourish it.

Bread and Circuses: Michelle Obama & Subway on $41 Million Ad Campaign to Get Kids to 'Eat Healthy'...at Subway

Hey kids, can you say "corporatism"?
If you need any more proof that our government is essentially a fascist vehicle for corporate interests, please look no further than Michelle Obama partnering with the nation's second largest fast food chain Subway in a $41 million marketing scheme to support Obama's Let's Move! campaign -- a movement supposedly designed to help eradicate childhood obesity.
Michelle's face is apparently plastered all over Subways everywhere now... people are threatening to boycott. While papers like the LA Times are touting this move as Obama simply "tapping" Subway to help get kids to eat better, a cursory glance at the restaurant's nutrition guide shows that the average meal at Subway is anything but the paragon of health. Like all convenience food in this country, it has its fair share of chemical preservatives, artificial colors, food additives and synthetic flavor enhancers like MSG (just to name a few).
But beyond that, this is only half a tick away from America *literally* having an Idiocracy government brazenly sponsored by corporate logos and insider interests...by, for and of the mega corporations.

How many steps does it take to make MSG?
Health and Wellness: How many steps does it take to make MSG?
Jan 5, 2013 | Activist Post | Aaron Dykes & Melissa Melton
MSG is so natural that it only takes GMO bacteria, 17+ steps and a lab to make it.
...because a natural food cooking process always involves treating genetically modified bacteria with penicillin, lye, a vat of acid, cryogenic freezing, silicon oil, and more lye...
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) has become a very popular food additive over the past century, with Japanese scientists first isolating from seaweed for industrial purposes. The appeal, and danger, of MSG comes from the intense flavors of the free glutamate form of the non-essential amino acid, glutamic acid, which also delivers rapid stimulation to the brain and central nervous system when not in the bound form. These free glutamates have the tendency to overstimulate neurons to the point of cell death, while triggering an insulin response. More generally, MSG is used in food production to give cheap yet almost additive taste that arguably makes people crave more and more processed foods.
More recently, MSG has been produced indirectly by denaturing proteins through a highly chemical process to unleash the free glutamate content within. MSG produced this way does not have to be labeled as "monosodium glutamate" and can be recognized on labels by the informed under dozens of often deceptive names, just a few of which include: hydrolyzed protein, yeast extract, autolyzed yeast, textured protein, soy protein isolate, whey protein isolate, protease and gelatin (see more information at Truth in Labeling.org)
Details on the "Natural" MSG Extraction Process
According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, author of Excitoxins: The Taste That Kills, claims that substances labeled as 'hydrolyzed vegetable protein' et al. are perfectly 'safe' and 'natural' plant-derived foods deceptively ignore the reality of their processing methods. Blaylock calls them "junk vegetables" that are "selected so as to have naturally high contents of glutamate." He describes the complex industrial extraction process this way:

Blaylock calls them "junk vegetables" that are "selected so as to have naturally high contents of glutamate." He describes the complex industrial extraction process this way:
The extraction process of hydrolysis involves boiling these vegetables in a vat of acid. This is followed by a process of neutralization with caustic soda. The resulting product is a brown sludge that collects on the top. This is scraped off and allowed to dry. The end product is a brown powder that is in three known excitotoxins - glutamate, aspartate, and cystoic acid (which converts in the body to cysteine). Here's a condensed version of the recipe for MSG production as we covered it in the video, from the Concise Encyclopedia of Bioresource Technology (2004):
MSG is the most commonly used flavor potentiator. Although it can be isolated from natural sources, such as wheat or corn gluten, fermentative production is more practical... Organisms belonging to the genera Corynebacterium, Brevibacterium, Microbacterium, and Arthrobacter can produce Lglutamic acid when grown on a variety of carbon sources... Sugar molasses is an economical feedstock, but requires treatment with penicillin or certain surface-active agents... nitrogen sources such as ammonium salts or urea... Microorganisms used... are usually preserved by lyophilization below - 80°C... Foam is created by the CO2 that is generated... is taken care of by using biochemically inert silicon oil as an antifoaming agent... followed by adjustment of the pH to 3.2 with hydrochloric acid... crude crystals of L-glutamic acid are suspended in water and neutralized with sodium hydroxide... decolorized with activated charcoal to obtain a clear liquid that is further concentrated to crystallize MSG crystals. (FYI: Sodium hydroxide is otherwise known as caustic soda or lye.)I guess the big rhetorical question is, are we all being chronically poisoned at the expense of industries who want us to eat/buy more crap food?

Were the pyramids built INSIDE OUT? Engineer claims ancient Egyptians built burial chamber first and then worked outwards
Were the pyramids built INSIDE OUT? Engineer claims ancient Egyptians built burial chamber first and then worked outwards
Dec 19, 2013 | DailyMail Online | Victoria Woollaston
For centuries it's been thought that the ancient Egyptians built their huge pyramids by hauling heavy granite blocks up specially crafted ramps.
Yet Newport engineer Peter James has branded this ‘impossible’, claiming the ramps would need to have been a quarter of a mile long or else they would have been too steep to carry the large blocks up.
He believes, instead, that the Egyptians built an inner core of zigzagging ramps, using smaller, lighter blocks while the larger outer casing stones were placed on the outside using scaffolding.
This means the pyramid was built up in layers and the top would have been built using scaffolding on the outside.
Peter James and his company Cintec are experts in construction and have been restoring the Egyptian pyramids for the past 18 years.
Mr James told the MailOnline: ‘Looking at the pyramids from a builder’s point of view, and not an archaeologist’s, it’s clear that the current theories are nonsense.
‘Just look at the numbers. Under the current theories, to lay 2 million blocks, the Egyptians would had to have laid a large block once every three minutes.
‘Heavy blocks could
then be either pulled up these ramps on sledges, or placed on the
outside using scaffolding made from timber and lashings.’
James continued that once the rest of the pyramid was built, the top blocks would had to have been placed from the outside, but would fit together like ‘Lego.’
He also said that he was sure of this theory because when studying the structures he noticed that none of the blocks on the later pyramids were bigger than 30 or 40cm thick.
According to Mr James, as the different pyramids were built from the Step pyramid to the Bent and Red pyramid and finally to the True pyramids, it was clear that the Egyptians were innovators.
‘Really these pyramids show a lot of innovation of how [the Egyptians] overcame problems, and how they resolved them in the next pyramid.'
He was inspired by this alternative theory when he was asked to look again at the Step pyramid after the burial chamber had collapsed.
‘People believe the Egyptians built this as a stairway to the heavens and to the gods, but it’s more simple than that.
On timber and lashing scaffolding, the Egyptians would not have wanted to go higher than 10 metres at a time, so they built 10 metres, took a step inwards and built another 10 metres. It’s not symbolic, it’s practical.'
Whichever method was used, on these different pyramids, it would still have been a substantial job.
The Great Pyramid of Giza, for example, is believed to have been 481ft tall when it was built but has sunk slightly and is now around 455ft tall. The base is said to cover 756ft.
‘Some locals claim that these stones were stolen, but I can’t see anyone wanting to climb that high to do that,’ continued James.
‘Archaeologists claim that the pyramid casing fell off, especially on the bent pyramid, because of the foundations. But it’s not that either. Not at all.
‘It’s a simple temperature problem. The outer blocks heat up to 40 and 50 degrees during the day and at night it cools to 4 or 5 degrees.
‘When limestone heats up, it expands and it never goes back to where it starts. This would have caused the casing and the structure to warp and bend meaning the problem was all over the pyramid, so it couldn’t be foundations.
'And after 4,000 years, that’s a lot of expanding and movement. There’s a builder’s story to be told here. Not an academic one.’
The reason Egyptian chose the pyramid shape is believed to stem back to the Egyptian sun god Ra.
Ra was said to have created himself from a pyramid-shaped mound of earth before he created all other gods.
The shape is also thought to be symbolic of the sun’s rays and they were usually placed on the western side of the Nile so the pharaoh’s soul could join the sun as set.
James’ theory supports that suggested by French architect Jean-Pierre Houdin in 2007. Like James, Houdin began working on the riddle and quickly found flaws in the two existing theories.
He claimed the ramp must have been a spiral 30-50ft beneath the outer skin.
He added that his theory could be proved by radars and heat detecting cameras as the ramp had to remain inside the finished structure.
The two theories mean that that 4,000 people could have built the pyramid using the techniques outlined - rather than previous estimates of around 100,000.

HOW WERE THE PYRAMIDS BUILT: CONFLICTING THEORIES
For centuries archaeologies believed that the ancient Egyptians built the huge pyramids by hauling heavy granite blocks up specially crafted ramps.
Under this theory, to lay 2 million blocks, the Egyptians would had to have laid a large block once every three minutes and it would have taken 100,000 people.
Newport engineer Peter James has branded this ‘impossible’ claiming the ramps would need to have been a quarter of a mile long or else they would have been too steep to carry the large blocks up.
He believes, instead, that the Egyptians built an inner core of zigzagging ramps, using smaller, lighter blocks while the larger outer casing stones were placed on the outside using scaffolding.
They would have set out the four corners a pyramid, like the four corners of a house. They then would have built four access points in the centre of the pyramid.
Next they would have established where the burial chamber would need to be built, and that would have been built using granite.
Starting from the walls of the burial chamber, the Egyptians could then build ramps using the lighter, smaller rocks in zigzags (pictured above left) around the structure, placing these rocks on top of each other as they went in order to build the pyramid up in layers.
The heavy blocks could then be either pulled up these ramps on sledges, or placed on the outside using scaffolding made from timber and lashings.
This theory builds on the work of French architect Jean-Pierre Houdin who, in 2007, similarly claimed that the pyramids were built from the inside out.
He suggested the ramps would have been built in the centre of the pyramid, or in a spiral 30 to 50ft beneath the outer skin (pictured centre and right).
The scaffolding used by the Egyptians would have been made from timber and lashings and James knows this would have been successful because he used these materials when repairing the pyramids.

Vinyl floors expose children to toxic phthalates
![]() |
| © Natural News |
Nov 1, 2013 | Natural News | L.J. Devon, staff writer
The thyroid and its hormone function are under constant attack from plasticizers called phthalates. Phthalates are manufactured to make plastics more flexible and harder to break; however, these plasticizers do the opposite in the human body, slowing it down and throwing it off balance. In the body, phthalates break down into metabolites and decrease hormone levels in the thyroid. This is a serious problem, especially in children, whose bodies depend on healthy thyroid hormone levels for growth, energy, reproduction and development.
Michigan study finds that phthalate DEHP lowers certain thyroid hormone levels
A vast study on human phthalate urine levels and corresponding thyroid hormone levels was conducted by the University of Michigan School of Public Health. Using publicly available data from a U.S. National Health and Nutrition Examination survey, researchers studied urine phthalate metabolites and corresponding serum thyroid hormone levels from 1,346 adults and 329 adolescents.
An inverse relationship was found. As phthalate levels increased, serum levels of certain thyroid hormone levels decreased. Urine samples in the highest 20 percent of phthalate exposure were associated with a 10 percent reduction in certain thyroid hormones in the patients. The phthalate studied in the patients' urine was DEHP, or di(2-ethylhexyl), which is usually consumed through a person's diet, including food packaging, water bottles and body care products.
Dietary measures not the only source of phthalate poisoning; children affected the most
In a new public release from the American Chemical Society, dietary measures may not be the only dangerous source of phthalates. Vinyl flooring, as used in many schools and daycares, is exposing children to a vast amount of phthalates, according to results published in the ACS journal, Environmental Science and Technology.
The lead researcher, Chungsik Yoon, pointed out that polyvinyl chloride floors are the second highest threat for containing phthalates, when considering volume. Phthalates are manufactured in vinyl flooring for much of the same reasons as bottles - flexibility and strength. But these plasticizers have the opposite effect in the body, bringing slowness and fragility instead, as hormone levels are wracked.
How these phthalates get into the body is no secret. They leech out of the products straight into water, food and air. The whole poisoning is practically invisible to the naked eye, as phthalates leach out and spread as "dust." It's well known that toys, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, medical devices and even soaps are capable of spreading leached phthalate dust on and into the body. An indoor environment can trap these dust particles in, as people breathe the hormone disruptors. An indoor environment full of vinyl flooring is a breeding ground for phthalate dust. In a school environment, that dust can be stirred up as more people come and go across the floor. This is putting children massively at risk for exposure, leading to low hormone levels, as their development is thwarted.
Scientists confirm high phthalate DEHP levels coming from vinyl floors in day cares and kindergartens
To further study the silent damage taking place where children play and learn, a major scientific investigation was held in Seoul, South Korea, recently at 50 various public and private day cares and kindergartens. To test for PVC levels in the floor, the team used an X-ray fluorescence analyzer, which verified high levels of the dangerous and most common phthalate, DEHP.
After confirming that DEHP was pervasive in all the vinyl flooring, the researchers then collected dust samples in various spots throughout the buildings. The dust levels contained the same DEHP, directly correlated with samples taken from the vinyl flooring.
The scientists stated in conclusion, "This is the first study to verify the sources of phthalates with an XRF analyzer and to evaluate the relationship between phthalate concentrations and PVC-verified materials."
What is thought to be just a dietary threat (phthalates) is now being investigated more closely as a possible indoor pollutant that is passed through the air from vinyl flooring. This is deeply concerning, especially noting that children's reproductive health, growth and energy levels are at risk.
